Good morning Grizzlies!  Welcome back to the first day of school!  We hope all of you have a great first day of school!  Remember to be safe out there if your child is walking, riding a bike etc...! Count Down!

Hello all Grizzly Parents and Kids!  Count down for school to start!  August 29th!  Remember this regular Monday morning school day.  No late start that day!  Thank you all for attending the Meet and Greet!  We hope all who joined us was able to meet some of your teachers in addition to Mrs. McDill. 


Congratulations to All the GSES Students on the CSAP scores!  Our school was the only school that made the AYP standards!  Give yourself and the teachers a Big Grizzly Roar!

Mill Levy Update

Hello all you Grizzlies Parents.  Last night meeting went well.  We were able to form several committees that will help carry the message regarding the Mil Levy tax. The district will post on their website information on how this will affect your taxes.  You will be able to calculate your tax information and it will show how much the tax will cost you.  The district said it will take a couple of weeks for them to get this started.  We need your help! Come out, come out Volunteers!

Important Mill Levy Meeting Thursday Evening!

There's an important Mill Levy meeting Thursday evening, August 11 at 7 p.m. at 
Roaring Fork High School in Carbondale

We need your support!!!

The mill levy is very important to our students to ensure a strong education. This mill levy override is intended to do the following:

* Prevent an increase in class sizes
* Allow teachers to earn a raise for the first time in three years
* Provide a much needed curriculum update to ensure we're meeting current standards in education

Please spread the word and join us if you can!

March 14,  2011

PIE Agenda

1.  Treasurer Report: Jennifer Holmgren

2. Volunteer Coordinator Report:  Allison Balis: Passed around sign up for Pasta La Vista.  Need help setting up and cleaning up.

3.  Food Allergy Discussion/Presentation: Marco and Katie.   Questions and answers. 

4.  Budget Update for RFSD and GSES 2011/12:  Sonya Hemmen:  Approximately $3 million needs to be cut from RE1 budget.   Wednesday March 23^rd is the next budget meeting.    Location: Sopris Elementary or the District office.    Cafeteria is self supporting- does not use state funding.    

5.  PIE Decision Making Model:   Agendas and Minutes will be posted on blog and school website.    More assessable if you miss a meeting to know what happened.  

6. Fundraising Meeting- set date for next meeting:  Monday March 21^st at 5:30pm in Library

7.  Recycle school supplies: Allison Balis:   Will have collection boxes in each building to collect school supplies at the end of the year to be reused next school year.   Will have more information in May newsletter.
